Welcome
In the spring of 2007, the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation awarded Colorado MESA the Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) Jumpstart grant.
The WIRED JumpStart grant supports collaborations among existing education, training, entrepreneurship and other workforce or industry-specific career development partners that expand and/or replicate successful programs to serve the needs of the Metro Denver WIRED Initiative's target industries and nine county region (Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson, Larimer, and Weld).
The $350,000 grant will assist Colorado MESA in:
- Enrich existing MESA programs in the nine county region through hands-on/minds-on academic activities and projects using expanded STEM based project curriculum.
- Expand MESA's college partnerships by establishing a MESA Regional Center in Northern Colorado at CSU Fort Collins, increasing support for the MESA University Center at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a more extensive collaboration with the Colorado School of Mines.
- Recruit new enrollees and establish new MESA middle/high school programs at a pace sufficient to increase program participation by MESA students in the nine county region by at least 10% during the 2007-2008 academic year.
- Provide extensive assessment of the MESA program including parent, advisor, student and program assessment.
