introduction

Fernando Mancilla-David is an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado Denver, where he teaches and directs research in energy and power systems as a faculty member of the Electrical Engineering Department.

Prof. Mancilla-David received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria, Valparaiso, Chile, in 1999, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI, in 2002 and 2007, respectively.

He was a visiting scientist at ABB Corporate Research in Vasteras, Sweden in the summer of 2008, and has been a visiting professor at L’Ecole superieure d’electricite (Supelec) in Gif-sur-Yvette, France, in the summers of 2009 and 2010, at the Berlin Institute of Technology, Berlin, Germany in the summer of 2011, and at the University of Roma 3, Rome, Italy in the summer of 2012.
